Sousa, Beasley Named to NSCAA All-Southwest Teams
KANSAS CITY, Kan.
– Senior Henrique Sousa and freshman Jordan Beasley of Rogers State men’s and
women’s soccer respectively earned National Soccer Coaches Association of
America recognition.
Sousa, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, was named NSCAA Men’s
Collegiate Scholar All-America College Division 2nd Team. The
Business Management major achieved a 3.53 cumulative grade point average throughout
his career.
To be nominated to the team student-athletes must have at
least a 3.30 GPA, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant
contributor. This season Sousa played in all 20 games starting 19 while
recording seven goals and four assists in helping RSU to its fifth straight
postseason play.
The
68 honorees will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held
in the Kansas City Convention Center's Grand Ballroom on Saturday, Jan. 14, in
conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
Sousa
was also named to the 2011 NAIA Men’s All-Southwest Team. He was joined by
players from Sooner Athletic Conference foe’s USAO, Oklahoma Christian,
Oklahoma Baptist and Lubbock Christian.
Beasley
was named to the 2011 NAIA Women’s All-Southwest Team as a freshman out of
Lafayette, La. She started in all 20 games for the Hillcats in her first season
on the Hill, registering eight goals, three of them game winners, and tallying
two assists.
