Senior forward Gianna Woods helping residents of Ashwood Place Senior Living Center in a game of Bingo. FRANKFORT,
Ky. – The Rogers State women’s basketball team
spent early Monday evening at the Ashwood Place Senior Living Center in
Frankfort, Kentucky visiting with residents as they finished dinner and
facilitating games of Bingo.
The Hillcats will face University of the Cumberlands
(Ky.) Wednesday at 9:45 p.m. (EST) in the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball
National Championship but prior to hitting the hardwood for competition the
women went table to table meeting residents of Ashwood Place at the end of
dinner. Among the residents RSU student-athletes met was a 101-year old woman.
Following dinner the RSU women called out numbers for
Bingo and interacted with residents while assisting in games of Bingo.
“The opportunity for us to visit with the residents
of Ashwood Place and take a break from our preparations for the National
Tournament on Wednesday was very special,” said head women’s basketball coach
Amy Williams. “I think both our girls and the residents gained something from
our time there.”
