Four Softball Hillcats Honored by SAC

Four members of the Rogers State softball team earned recognition by the Sooner Athletic Conference as postseason awards were released Monday.
 

Junior centerfielder Brittany White earned first-team all-conference accolades. The Ashdown, Ark., native hit. 397 with a team-leading 31 stolen bases. White led the Hillcats with 11 doubles and three triples while also driving in 24 runs.
 

Freshmen Linsey Curtis and Ashlie Fauchier joined White on the all-conference second team. Curtis re-wrote the RSU record books with 26 home runs and 80 RBI during her first season on the Hill. The Collinsville, Okla., product posted an .851 slugging percentage and tallied 154 total bases. Fauchier hit .362 while starting all 62 games for the Cats at shortstop. The Choctaw, Okla., native also represented RSU on the SAC Gold Glove team.
 

Junior Taryn Hernandez was named honorable mention all-conference as a utility player. The Moreno Valley, Calif., native belted 15 home runs and hit .379. Hernandez also went 16-12 for the Cats in the pitcher’s circle and racked up 53 strikeouts in 169.2 innings pitched.
 

Lubbock Christian’s Kim Frazier was named the SAC Player of the Year while Oklahoma City’s Lilly LaVelle was tabbed the SAC Pitcher of the Year. Rogers State (35-26) completed its fifth consecutive winning season with its fourth straight trip to the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament this spring. The Hillcats will lose no seniors off the 2010 roster.
