Rogers State’s Grant Cosby and Colton West garnered Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week honors for the final week of the 2010 regular season. Cosby and West keyed an important series sweep over Oklahoma Christian last week that propelled the Hillcats into the conference tournament. West batted .700 in three games against the Eagles with three home runs, nine RBI and seven runs scored. The Greenland, Ark., native posted a 1.700 slugging percentage and also stole five bases. West shared the player of the week award with Oklahoma Baptist’s Bam Davis who also tallied seven hits and nine RBI. Cosby turned in a gem in his final regular season performance, allowing just one unearned run in his sixth complete-game of the year. The Fayetteville, Ark., native scattered seven hits across seven innings and picked up five strikeouts without yielding a walk. This marks the second time this season Cosby has earned conference pitcher of the week accolades. Five RSU baseball players earned conference weekly awards during the 2010 regular season. Rogers State (30-11) will look to stay alive in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament as it faces Northwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday morning in an elimination game at Jim Wade Stadium in Oklahoma City. First pitch is slated for 10 a.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM and online at www.rsuhillcats.com.
