Cocke Nabs Heartland Conference Weekly Honor

WACO, Texas – Rogers State's Teri Cocke was named Heartland Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season as announced Wednesday.
 
In the only match for the Hillcats this week, Cocke backstopped RSU to a 1-0 victory on the road at Newman Saturday. The sophomore made four saves against a relentless Jets' attack for the first shutout of her career in the 2014 season finale.
 
The weekly award is the first in women's soccer history as a member of the Heartland Conference as RSU finished its second season in the league with a 3-5 record placing sixth.
 
The New Braunfels, Texas native started all 17 matches for the Hillcats this season playing close to 1,500 minutes between the pipes facing 262 shots. Cocke finished the year ranked fourth in the conference averaging 5.06 saves per game.
