CLAREMORE, Okla. – For the first time as a member of the Heartland Conference, a Rogers State University men's basketball player was recognized as the Player of the Week with J.C. Hartzler receiving the award, as announced by the conference office Monday (Jan. 6).

Hartzler, a native of Tulsa, Okla., led the Hillcats to a 2-0 week in conference play registering a career-high 26 points, going a flawless 6-for-6 from behind the arc in a 90-74 win over Dallas Baptist. The six three pointers tied the RSU single-game record for three-point field goal percentage while he also finished shooting 89 percent from the field.

The sophomore guard tallied 19 points in RSU's 81-68 win over Oklahoma Christian Saturday to close the week averaging 22.5 points, shooting 60 percent from the field, and 78 percent from both the free throw and three point lines.

Hartzler and the rest of the Hillcats return to action looking to extend a three-game win streak on the road at Newman (Kan.) in Wichita Thursday (Jan. 9). Fans can listen to the game live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM and on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
