WACO, Texas – Rogers State junior DaNara Day earned the program's first Heartland Conference weekly award being named Women's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday.
The Tulsa, Okla., native came off the bench to lead the Hillcats to a perfect 2-0 week and their first time winning back-to-back games this season.
Day started the week tallying 32 points, the third highest single-game total in school history, pacing RSU to a 98-80 upset victory over St. Edward's, a team receiving votes in the latest NCAA DII Top 25 polls.
She was nearly perfect from the floor against the Hilltoppers hitting 9-of-11 shots, including 4-of-6 from behind the arc, while knocking down 10-of-12 free three attempts.
Day followed that outburst with a 14-point performance in a 65-63 win over McMurry and also swiped a team-high three steals in both contests.
RSU hits the road for two Heartland Conference games this week beginning with conference leading and unbeaten Lubbock Christian Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live and on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
