WACO, Texas – Following a career outing for Rogers State,
Donald Moore was honored as the Heartland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week Monday.
The senior fueled a Hillcats' comeback in their conference opener scoring 28 of his career-high 34 points in the second half as RSU erased a double-digit deficit over Dallas Baptist Saturday afternoon. The win kept the team unbeaten to start the 2015-16 campaign winning its eighth-consecutive game.
Moore's 34 points were the third-most in single-game history for the program as he was a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line. The Chicago Heights, Illinois native hit four three pointers in the final half and added a team-best four assists and two steals, while shooting 8-of-13 (62 percent) from the floor.
His weekly award is the first of his career and first of the season for RSU and marks the team's fourth honor since joining the Heartland Conference.
The Hillcats close the non-conference portion of the schedule Dec. 14 hosting Hillsdale Free Will Baptist. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Claremore Expo Center.
