WACO, Texas – Rogers State men's basketball senior Frederico Santos was named Heartland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week Monday after breaking the single-season rebounding record.
 
Santos recorded a double-double in each of the Hillcats' home victories moving them into a three-way tie for first place in the conference with four games remaining on the schedule. The senior set the school rebounding record Thursday against Oklahoma Panhandle State behind a 16-point, 11-rebound performance in just 23 minutes of play.
 
He followed with 19 points and 16 rebounds against fellow conference leader Lubbock Christian pulling down half of RSU's 32 boards in Saturday's contest. Santos finished the week averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds while hitting 13-of-15 (87 percent) from the floor.
 
A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Santos now has 12 double-doubles on the year and leads the league in rebounding averaging 10.5 per game while posting the best shooting percentage at 72 percent.
 
Santos is the first Hillcat to earn the Heartland Conference weekly honor this season and third since joining the league before the 2013-14 season.
