WACO, Texas – For the second time this season, Rogers State's
Hagen Barmasse has been named the Heartland Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week following a top-five performance at the UA Fort Smith Lions Classic.
The junior used a strong closing round, carding his low round of the spring, to place third jumping six places on the final day. He tallied four birdies in round two on his way to an even-par 70 following an opening-round 74, finishing the tournament with seven birdies at Hardscrabble Country Club.
A native of Houston, Texas, Barmasse ranked second in the 42-player field in par-five scoring posting a 4-under-par total while going even on the par three's for the 36-hole event, leading the Hillcats to a third-place team finish.
It marks the third time Barmasse has been bestowed with the conference honor in his Hillcat career while making it the third RSU men's golfer earning the recognition in 2014-15. He also was named player of the week after a fourth-place finish at the Midwestern State Invitational in October.
Barmasse and the Hillcats are back on the course April 6-7 in Dallas, Texas at the Dallas Baptist Men's Classic held at the Golf Club of Dallas.
