WACO, Texas – Rogers State goalkeeper
Walker Farrar was named the Heartland Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week announced by the league office on Monday (Oct. 31).
Farrar, a junior from Topeka, Kansas, finished with a shutout in a 1-0 victory over Newman on Saturday in his first start of the season. The Hillcats scored on a late penalty to notch their 10th win of the season and pull to a tie with the Jets in the league standings. Farrar totaled five saves in 90 minutes. He now has six saves without a goal allowed all season in almost 150 minutes of action. The Hillcats went 2-0 this week and ended the regular season with four straight victories.
This is Farrar's first player of the week honor in his career. He is the second RSU goalkeeper to earn the honor this season after
Cody Gammill was named the league defensive player of the week on Sept. 12.
The Hillcats play in the Heartland Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday (Nov. 1) at Newman in Wichita, Kansas. The contest is set for 7 p.m. with live stats and video available.
