CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State Director of Athletics
Ryan Erwin announced that
Scott Parkinson has been named the third head women's soccer coach in program history.
"We are delighted to announce Scott as the next head coach of Hillcat women's soccer," Erwin said. "After conducting a national search, Scott was the one candidate we felt was the best fit for Rogers State University and Hillcat soccer for years to come. His passion and love for the game is contagious and his dedication to excellence is what we are looking for as we look forward to our first season as full, active NCAA membership."
Parkinson, formerly an assistant coach with the Hillcat men's program for two seasons, takes the reins on the Hill following the departure of Heather Cato, who spent two seasons leading the team. Cato resigned her post earlier this spring to take a job as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Central Michigan.
"I'm thankful for
Ryan Erwin and his trust in me," Parkinson stated. "I'm really excited about this opportunity to take over the program and take the team to the next level. I'm also extremely grateful to Coach
Derek Larkin for giving me my first shot to prove my ability; I will never forget that. I am also thankful to the members of the RSU athletic department. The staff has treated me like family and has supported me since my arrival. I look forward to working alongside them in this new position."
A native of Liverpool, England, Parkinson helped the men's team to a third-place finish in the Heartland Conference standings a season ago posting a 10-5-3 overall record. The Hillcats registered their best defensive season in program history allowing just 16 goals against in 18 matches.
"I cannot wait to get together with Coach
Victoria Ramirez and start planning our vision for the program. I am eager to work with this group of passionate and united players. This is one of the closest knit teams I've been around. Their bond is something special and I look forward to building on the foundation that has been built over the past few years."
