Baylor Harvey was named the Heartland Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday morning by the Heartland Conference.
Harvey was the top runner out of the Heartland Conference placing third as an individual at the Southern Stampede on Saturday in Joplin, Missouri. The redshirt junior was only 10 seconds off his personal-best 8k time turning in 24:55.36 at the race featuring 203 runners in his first 8k since winning the Heartland Conference championship in 2014. He has not placed outside the top three in his previous five races.
As a team, the Hillcats placed eighth in a field of 18 teams at the Southern Stampede.
The weekly honor is the third all-time for Harvey and the RSU cross country program. Harvey earned the honor twice in his sophomore season in 2014.
The Hillcats are back in action Saturday, Sept. 24, in Nashville, Tennessee at the Trevecca NCAA Division II Showcase Invitational. The men's race is scheduled to start at 10:10 a.m.
