Harvey Earns Conference Honor for Second Straight Week

WACO, Texas – Rogers State men's cross country runner Baylor Harvey was named the Heartland Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second straight week on Monday by the Heartland Conference.

Harvey, a redshirt junior from Cleveland, Oklahoma, earned the honor for the second straight week after he was named the runner of the week last Tuesday (Sept. 20). He has been named the league runner of the week four times in his career, including twice in the 2014 season during his sophomore campaign.

Harvey made it two wins in three races this season as the junior won the inaugural Trevecca NCAA Division II Showcase Invitational on Saturday at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Harvey covered the course in a time of 25:38.1, a 5:09 per-mile pace, on a hot morning in the Volunteer State. Harvey, the 2014 Heartland Conference champion, won by almost a full minute over teammate Seth Whittington, who ran a 26:31 in the 8k event. The Hillcats finished in second place to regionally-ranked Bentley in a field of 12 teams.

The redshirt junior has won five of his last six races dating back to the 2014 season.

The Hillcats return to action on Oct. 8 at the OBU Bison Invitational in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
