Taylor Santistevan was named the Heartland Conference Softball Hitter of the Week, announced on Monday (April 10) by the Heartland Conference.
Santistevan, a sophomore from Farmington, N.M., led the Hillcats to a dominating three-game sweep at Oklahoma Panhandle State as the Hillcats outscored the Aggies, 47-4, in the series. Santistevan finished with a .727 average, totaling eight hits, two doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI. The sophomore infielder had four RBI in each of the three games and posted a 1.455 slugging percentage in the series. Santistevan is hitting .326 on the season following the series with six home runs and 30 RBI. This is Santistevan's first hitter of the week award in her career.
The Hillcats totaled 47 runs and 45 hits in the three-game sweep at OPSU. The 47 runs are the most in a three-game stretch in the history of the RSU softball program. With the victories, the Cats moved to 24-15 this season.
