WACO, Texas – Rogers State men's cross country runner
Baylor Harvey was named the Heartland Conference Runner of the Week announced on Monday (Sept. 19) by the Heartland Conference. It's the six time Harvey has earned the award in his career and the first time this season.
Harvey, a senior from Cleveland, Okla., was the top NCAA Division II runner and second overall at the Southern Stampede on Saturday (Sept. 16) with a time of 24:29.57, only eight seconds off his school record time, in the 8-kilometer race. Harvey's performance helped the Hillcat men's team finish first in the field of NCAA D2 programs and second overall to NCAA Division I Wichita State.
Outside of the regional and national championships, Harvey has placed in the top three in 10 straight races, including eight individual wins. As a junior, Harvey was an All-American, Academic All-American and the Heartland Conference Runner of the Year.
The league honor is his sixth runner of the week award in his career. He received the award three times during his junior season and two times during his sophomore season in 2014.
