WACO, Texas – Freshman infielder
Rylee DeLozier was named the Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week as announced by the Heartland Conference on Tuesday (Feb. 27) morning.
DeLozier, a freshman from Collinsville, Oklahoma, paced the Hillcat offense with a .625 batting average with five hits, one double and one home run in a sweep at St Edward's this weekend. She posted three RBI, all on a three-run home run to left field in an 11-6 game one win at St. Edward's. In the nightcap, DeLozier went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate to go with her three-run homer in the first game. She helped the Cats to their first-ever 2-0 start in Heartland Conference play with a doubleheader sweep of St. Edward's on Sunday in Austin, Texas. This is DeLozier's first weekly award.
RSU softball is currently on a nine-game winning streak, its longest winning streak since the 2013 season when the Cats started the season 30-0, and holds a 13-4 record and a 2-0 record in the Heartland Conference.
The Hillcats start a nine-game homestand on Wednesday (Feb. 28) with a doubleheader against Missouri Southern at 3 p.m. at the Diamond Sports Complex. Coverage will be available on the Hillcat Network at
