WACO, Texas – Senior pitcher
Tim Luce was named the Heartland Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for week one on Tuesday (Feb. 6) as announced by the league.
Luce, a senior from Claremore, Okla., opened the 2018 campaign with RSU's first no-hitter in program history in a 12-0 opening day win over Randall on Friday (Feb. 2). The southpaw went the complete seven innings and totaled a career-high 10 strikeouts. He allowed only three base runners all day with a walk, hit-by-pitch and a passed ball on a strikeout swinging. Luce earned the no-hitter on only 76 pitches in the seven-inning outing.
The pitcher of the week award is Luce's first in his two-year career in the navy and red.
RSU swept the Saints in the four-game series to open the season with a perfect 4-0 record.
The Hillcats return to action on Friday (Feb. 9) in a doubleheader against Northeastern State at 1 p.m. at the Diamond Sports Complex. Follow the action on the Hillcat Network at
