Bivens Named Heartland Pitcher of the Week

WACO, Texas – Rogers State baseball's Spencer Bivens was named the Heartland Baseball Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league on Monday (March 5) after the senior threw a complete game two-hitter during the weekend.
 
Bivens, a senior from State College, Pa., pitched a complete game two-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Sioux Falls on Saturday in Ozarks, Mo. He went the full 9.0 innings and totaled eight strikeouts with only two single allowed in the game. Bivens gave up only two walks and held the Cougars to a .071 batting average. For the season, Bivens moved to 3-1 with a 0.70 earned run average as he has allowed only two earned runs in 25.2 innings pitched. He has totaled 23 strikeouts and opponents are hitting only .151 against him this season. This is Biven's first weekly award this season.
 
RSU went 3-1 during the week in Ozark, Mo. with two wins over Sioux Falls and a split with Winona State. For the season, the Cats are 10-3 overall and have won six of their last seven games, including a three-game winning streak.
 
The Hillcats return to action this weekend at UA Fort Smith in a rare nonconference four-game series against the Lions that starts on Friday with a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available for all four games.
