MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – Rogers State men's golf are the leaders in the clubhouse after the first day of competition at The Showdown at Shangri-La on Monday.

After 36 holes at the par 71, 6,955 yard Shangri-La Resort, the Hillcats lead the field with a card of 562 (-6), one stroke ahead of second place. The second team sits in a three-way tie for 13th with a card of 596 (+28).

Thomas Barnes Grimes leads the Hillcats in second place after shooting a blistering 135 (-7) over the two rounds and is two strokes off the leader. The freshman tied the single round school record in both strokes and score relative to par in the second round as he fired a 64 (-7). The Leeds, England native sank nine birdies and an eagle on the day.

Elliot-Han Monteremal sits in a three-way tie for 12th with a card of 142 (E).
Tyler Collier is one stroke behind in a group of seven tied at 15th with a 143 (+1).
Daniel Robles Delval sits in a large group of 10 tied at 24th with a 145 (+3).
Ty Nicar rounds out the squad in a large group of 11 tied at 34th with a 146 (+4).

Kaden Armstrong leads the second team also in the group of 11 tied at 34th with a card of 146 (+4).
Julian Alanis sits in a four-way tie for 55th with a 148 (+7).
Pedro Benjumea sists in a four-way for 59th with a 150 (+8).
Maddox Bullen is in a group of six tied at 66th with a 152 (+10).
Jack Roche rounds out the group in a three-way tie for 81st with a 156 (+14).

Traden Karch is in 93rd with a 171 (+29).

The Hillcats will look to hang on to their lead in the final round tomorrow. A shotgun start is set for 9 a.m.
