WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Rogers State men's golf's Elliot-Han Monteremal wrapped up the first day of competition at the NCAA National Championships on Tuesday.
 
After 18 holes at the par 71, 7,419 yard Orange County National Golf Center, Monteremal sits in a large group of 10 tied at 19th after shooting a 70 (-1).
 
The senior started the day off strong as he began with five-straight pars. He hit a slight hiccup at the par 3 No. 6 as he came away with a bogey. However, Monteremal quickly bounced back as he strung together two more pars and a birdie to close out the front nine at even par.
 
He carried that momentum into the back nine as he sank two more birdies at No. 11 and No. 14 to move to two under par. Monteremal finished out the day with a 70 (-1) after he bogeyed the par 4 No. 16.
 
He will look to continue his solid play in the second round tomorrow as he is set to tee off at 12:55 p.m. CT.
