ALPINE, Texas – Former Rogers State baseball outfielder
AJ Folds has signed a professional contract with the Alpine Cowboys of the Pecos League.

Folds recently wrapped up his Hillcat career this spring after receiving All-MIAA honors for the second-straight season. The Dallas, Texas native closed out his senior campaign hitting .304 at the plate with 15 extra base hits, a team-high 11 doubles, two home runs, 26 RBI and a team-high 52 runs scored.

In his three years on the Hill, Folds held a career .314 average with 128 hits, 29 doubles, five triples, four home runs, 26 RBI, 107 runs scored and 30 stolen bases. He finished ranked in the top 10 in school history in hit by pitches (2nd, 34) and runs scored (9th).

The Cowboys, who are based in Alpine, Texas in the southwestern corner of the state, won the Pecos League in 2012 and most recently in 2019. They are one of 16 teams that make up the league with teams spread across Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
