A native of Rogers, Ark., Sutherland was a key part of the first women's soccer program at Rogers State in 2007. In her only season on the Hill as a player, she set the standard for excellence leading the Hillcats to their first Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Championship and an appearance in the NAIA Region VI Tournament finals with a 20-3 record. During that campaign, Sutherland accomplished the eye-popping feat of recording five hat tricks (three goals) and scored an astonishing five goals against Ozark Christian College and a staggering six goals against Wayland Baptist, a single game school record. In fact, she logged 12 multi-goal games during the season and scored in all but three games. Sutherland etched her name into RSU, Sooner Athletic Conference and NAIA record books recording 44 goals on the year, just four shy of the NAIA season record at the time. She also finished with 100 points, a RSU and SAC single season record. For her efforts on the field, she was named a NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, NAIA Region VI Player of the Year, First Team All-Region VI, SAC Offensive Player of the Year, SAC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-SAC.

After her playing career, Sutherland remained at RSU as an assistant coach during the 2008 season. That year, she helped guide the Hillcats to a 14-5 record with their second-straight appearance in the SAC Tournament and coached four All-SAC performers.
