The Athletics Advisory Council is the official entity at Rogers State University designated by its President and Director of Athletics that is to provide guidance and oversight in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies that balance intercollegiate athletics with academic rigor and promote gender equity in the intercollegiate athletic programs. 

Mission
The mission of the Athletics Advisory Council (AAC) is to serve as an objective entity providing recommendations in an advisory role to the President and Director of Athletics of Rogers State University.  Constituents of the board purposefully comprise a broad representation of individuals from the RSU campus and its extended community.  The AAC plays a significant role in advising and recommending university policies that serve the betterment and welfare of the University’s student-athlete population.        

Charge
The self-imposed charge to the Athletics Advisory Council is to promote excellence, integrity, and transparency among the university community, while ensuring a desirable balance between the athletic program and the academic programs of the university.  The mission and charge of this board should be reviewed annually as the fluid landscape of academics and intercollegiate athletics evolves. 
 
Responsibilities

The Athletic Advisory Council serves in an advisory and recommendation role to the President and Director of Athletics on, but not limited to:
  • Ensure the proper role of athletics within the overall mission of the university
  • Enhance student-athlete well-being
  • Gender equity and diversity in athletic opportunities
  • Academic integrity and support
  • Plans for future sports configuration and their respective facilities
  • Academic persistence and attrition for student-athletes
  • Ensuring progress and continued development of the Athletic Department
  • Such other matters on which the President specifically requests advice

  • Three Students
  • Two University Administrators
  • Two Community Members/Alumni
  • Three Athletic Administrators (ex officio and non-voting)
