Hillcats Drop SAC Tournament Opener

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State fell behind early and couldn't recover as the Hillcats lost 3-0 to Oklahoma Baptist in the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament at Soldier Field on Friday.

Emerson Rodrigues gave the Bison a 1-0 advantage on a header from Taizo Kasuya in the first half. Kasuya made it 2-0 on a converted penalty kick 11 minutes into the second period. Jake Germany added a third goal with 28:29 remaining on an assist from Kasuya. Kasuya, a native of Tokyo, Japan, finished with four points in the match.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Hillcats who committed 26 fouls in the match. RSU managed just one shot on goal. OBU challenged the Hillcats with 10 shots on goal.

OBU (6-9-1) advanced to the SAC tournament semi-final round with the victory. Rogers State (11-4-2) will await a possible berth in the Region VI tournament, to be announced next week.
