Sutherland Keys Cats Comeback Over SNU

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Robin Sutherland scored three times in the second half to spur Rogers State to a 4-3 comeback win over Southern Nazarene at Soldier Field on Thursday.

The Hillcats trailed 2-0 at the half and 3-1 with just 25 minutes remaining in the match before Sutherland went on a scoring frenzy. She pulled the Hillcats within one with 19:53 left to play. It stayed 3-2 until she evened the score with 6:51 remaining. Two-and-a-half minutes later Sutherland tallied the game-winner on a header into the back of the net.

"Just a great second half effort by our team," RSU Head Coach Derek Larkin said. "Robin has been phenomenal all season and she came through in a big way again today."

Vanessa Oxford scored the only first half goal for RSU on an assist from Sutherland. Oxford and Sutherland currently lead the Sooner Athletic Conference in assists and goals, respectively. Sutherland extended her streak of consecutive games with at least one goal to ten. She has six consecutive multi-goal games and has three hat tricks in the past four games.

Larkin's squad improved to 9-1, 4-1 in conference play with the win. The Crimson Storm fell to 6-4-1 and suffered its first conference loss of the season.

The Hillcats will travel to Bethel College (Bethel, Kan.) on Saturday for a non-conference match. RSU will play a rescheduled match against Oklahoma Baptist on Monday at Soldier Field. That match is slated for 4 p.m.
