Hillcats Edge Ozarks, 2-1

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - Rogers State picked up a big non-conference road win with a 2-1 victory over University of the Ozarks on Tuesday in Clarksville, Ark.

The Eagles entered the match 11-2 on the season and a perfect 7-0 at home before being upset by the Hillcats. The RSU victory snapped a 14-game home winning streak for UO.

Jaime Perez put the Hillcats in front with a goal 22 seconds into the match on an assist from Bryce Taylor. The Eagles tied the game at 1-1 when Brandon VanCleave found the back of the net at the midway point of the first half.

The match remained tied until RSU freshman Brett Jones tallied the game-winning-goal on an assist from Carlos Zuta in the 73rd minute.

"This was a huge win for our guys against a tough opponent on the road," said Derek Larkin, RSU head soccer coach.

RSU improved to 8-3-2 with the win. The Hillcats will return home on Thursday afternoon to host Oklahoma Baptist in a rescheduled match at Soldier Field. The match is slated for 3 p.m.
