CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State freshman Griffin Kane should have no trouble recalling his first collegiate goal years from now.

The Bishop Kelley product drilled home a header in double overtime to give the Hillcats a 1-0 victory over John Brown in their final home match of the season at Soldier Field Wednesday. Kane's heroics ended 102 minutes of scoreless soccer ignited a joyous celebration from the Hillcats and the more than 200 fans in attendance.

The Golden Eagles outshot RSU 22-17 while the Cats posted two more shots on goal. Sophomore Sean Surridge picked up a hard earned shutout with nine saves. JBU's Adrian Jasso received a red card in the 79th minute, forcing the Eagles to play a man down the rest of the way. They appeared in position to salvage a tie before Kane found the net for the first time as a Hillcat.

Rogers State (9-4-3, 3-3-1) tallied its first win in more than two weeks after settling for ties in two of its last three games. The Hillcats remain in fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with one regular season conference game remaining on the schedule.

RSU will travel to Bethany, Okla., to face Southern Nazarene Saturday. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
