BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene beat the Rogers State men's soccer team for the second time in as many weeks with a 2-1 victory in the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Friday in Bethany.

The loss signaled the end of the 2008 season for the RSU men. Coach Derek Larkin's Hillcats finished with a 10-6-3 record in their second year of competition.

The Crimson Storm took control early Friday with a pair of first half goals. Eric Hanebutt registered the first tally in the 6th minute of the match and Nathan Shugart followed with a strike in the 23rd minute. Damian Gunaratne assisted on both goals.

Des Fitzgerald put RSU on the scoreboard when he converted a penalty kick with less than two minutes remaining in the match. The Hillcats outshot SNU 19-16 and posted four shots on goal. Goalkeeper Sean Surridge had three saves in the final match of the season.

The Rogers State women will look to keep their season alive with a win Saturday at Oklahoma Christian. The SAC quarterfinal match is slated for 7 p.m. in Edmond, Okla.
