SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Rogers State clubbed a season-high 16 hits en route to a 15-2 victory over Evangel University Tuesday in Springfield, Mo.

Lillian Nevarez, Katie Bointy and Tanya Koch belted home runs in the top of the second inning as the Hillcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead. RSU tacked on four runs in the third and four more in the fourth to reach the final margin.

Nevarez and Allison Bean tallied three hits apiece for the Cats. Jenny Johnson (12-5) tossed five innings for the complete-game victory. She allowed two unearned runs on four hits and racked up five strikeouts. Kimberly Williams took the loss after giving up seven runs in just 1.2 innings of work.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was called off in the third inning due to heavy rainstorms in the area.

Rogers State (12-7) improved to 11-4 in non-conference games this season and has hit eight home runs in its last two games. The Hillcats will travel to Oklahoma City Thursday to play Mid-America Christian in a conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
