CLAREMORE, Okla. - Junior T.J. Martin scored a pair of goals to lift the Hillcats past Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday evening at Soldier Field.
It was the final game on Soldier Field for 10 seniors-Carlos Zuta, Des Fitzgerald, Sean Surridge, Matt Longaberger, Jaime Perez, Brett Jones, Trent Baker, Nikola Samac, Oscar Zelaya and Sergio Guerra, who were honored prior to the game.
Just 24 minutes into the match, senior Jaime Perez threaded the ball through the defense for Martin who fired it past OC goalkeeper Tim Spencer to take a 1-0 lead.
Martin struck again in the 30th minute, this time senior Sergio Guerra crossed the ball into the box for Martin who scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season.
The Hillcats had several chances to add to their lead, putting 11 shots on frame. The RSU defense only allowed the Eagles to record four shots on goal.
Surridge and Samac both spent time in the net, earning the team's eighth shutout victory of the year. Surridge made three saves and Samac earned one save.
With the help of the women's victory earlier in the evening, Head Coach Derek Larkin and the Hillcat soccer program achieved their 100th win on senior night.
The Hillcats (11-4-2, 5-3-1 SAC) will complete their regular season slate on Tuesday, Nov. 2 as they travel to Mid-America Christian. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
