LUBBOCK, Texas - Rogers State ran into a buzz saw Thursday afternoon as third-ranked Lubbock Christian swept the Hillcats in a pair of five-inning games at PlainsCapital Park in Lubbock, Texas.

The Lady Chaps scored runs in each of the first four innings of the opener to post a 12-2 victory. LCU plated 11 runs in the first inning of the nightcap en route to a 14-4 win.
GAME ONE

The Chaparrals roughed up RSU starter Taryn Hernandez in game one. LCU reached Hernandez for 12 runs on 15 hits before the lefthander left the game in the fourth inning with an injury.

Amanda Myers homered in the third and fourth innings to push the Lady Chaps to the run-rule margin. Freshman Linsey Curtis was called upon to make her collegiate pitching debut in an emergency appearance in the fourth inning. Brittany White tallied two of the Cats' five hits in the contest.

Hernandez took the loss for RSU while Alyssa Gutierrez earned the win for the Chaparrals.
GAME TWO

Curtis took the ball in game two and struggled to find the strike zone from the outset. She issued eight walks and allowed 11 runs in the bottom of the first innings. Priscilla FaGaines, Latainna Eltsosie and Myers had RBI singles in the opening frame.
RSU plated four runs in the top of the third. Curtis ripped a two-run double in the rally, but LCU answered with three more runs in the bottom of the inning. Regular third-baseman Katie Bointy pitched the final three innings for RSU, allowing three unearned runs on just two hits.

Jori Rodgers earned the pitching victory in relief for LCU while Curtis suffered her first loss. Ashlie Fauchier, Jordan Ford and Dina Ortiz tallied two hits apiece for the Cats.

Rogers State (34-22) remains in fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference while Lubbock Christian (50-4) maintained its grip on first place. The Hillcats return home to host St. Gregory's Saturday afternoon in Claremore. First pitch is scheduled for noon and the doubleheader will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
