BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Despite two overtime periods and eight shots on goal, the Rogers State University men's soccer team was unable to put away Oklahoma Wesleyan University in their season opener, leaving Bartlesville with a 0-0 draw.
The Hillcats had several opportunities to win the game, including a laser shot by senior Trent Baker with less than five minutes to play in the second overtime. The ball curled toward the top corner of the goal but the Eagles goalkeeper, Vladan Glavonic, made a diving save to keep his team in the game.
The Hillcats took 25 shots in the game but only managed to put eight of them on frame. Senior Sean Surridge played the entire 110 minutes in goal making four saves. The defense saved a goal as well, clearing the ball off the goal line with less than 13 minutes to play in regulation.
Glavonic played all 110 minutes between the posts for OWU, making eight saves.
The men's soccer team looks to get in the win column on Friday, Sept. 3 when they open their home slate against Lyon College. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
