CLAREMORE, Okla.- Freshman Steven Baker scored a goal four minutes into the second overtime period to give Rogers State University men's soccer a 2-1 victory over Friends University (Kan.) on Friday night at Soldier Field.
The scoring sequence started with sophomore defender Bryan Jones who perfectly paced the ball down the field towards the Falcons goal box. Baker then ran onto the ball, sending it past Falcon goalkeeper Brady Coffman.
The Hillcats had some luck in the second overtime as Daniel Toledo hit the crossbar 30 seconds into the period.
All three of the goals were scored in the second half. Surgio Guerra put the Hillcats on the board first with a goal in the 73rd minute. Henrique Sousa carried the ball into the box and dished the ball to Guerra who drilled the ball into the back of the net.
The Falcons earned the equalizer three minutes later when Brent Hobson beat the RSU defense and slotted it into the net.
Both teams took six shots on goal in the game. Senior goalkeeper Sean Surridge made five saves in his second win of the season.
The Hillcats return to action Tuesday, Sept. 14th, hosting Bethel College at Soldier Field with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
