SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - The Rogers State women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 double overtime loss in its final regular season contest at John Brown on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hillcats battled the Golden Eagles for 109 minutes before JBU took home the victory as the game winning goal was scored with 48 seconds remaining in overtime. JBU freshman Casey O'Brien dribbled through the defense and fired a shot far-post from the top of the box, out of reach for RSU goalkeeper Chelsea McMullin.
The Hillcats placed four of their five shots on frame but were unable to find the back of the net.
RSU got a break in the second half as the Golden Eagles were awarded a penalty kick but were unable to convert it for a goal.
RSU has fallen by a one goal four times this season. Today's loss is the first overtime defeat of the year. They Hillcats have played extra time on four occasions in 2011.
With the loss, the Hillcats are knotted in fifth with Mid-America Christian in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings. However, RSU wins the tie breaker thanks to a 4-0 victory over the Lady Evangels.
Rogers State (9-6-3, 6-4-1) will await its opening round opponent for the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament. The conference office will announce the bracket on Wednesday.
