CLAREMORE, Okla.- The Rogers State men's soccer team sent Monday's game against Lubbock Christian into overtime but the Hillcats were unable to top the Chaps as LCU earned the 2-1 victory at Soldier Field.
The Hillcats tallied the equalizer in the 70th minute of the game as Danko Kenjic and Kevin Howard strung two passes together and served the ball into the box for Garron Hayes who came crashing in on the front post to head the ball past the keeper.
RSU had chances to end the game in regulation as the Hillcats outshot the Chaps 14-3 in the second stanza. Neither team was able to record the game-winner in regulation, sending the competition into overtime. LCU notched the winning goal in the 94th minute off a free kick as Nick Gorrie headed the ball past the goalkeeper near post to seal the win.
Billy Forbes tallied the first goal of the game in the 12th minute of the games as he slotted the ball past the keeper near post.
Erik Mozzo tallied the win in goal for the Chaps making five saves while allowing one goal. Mitchell Penton took the loss in goal as he made five saves while allowing two goals.
Rogers State (4-8-1, 2-4 HC) returns to action on Saturday as the Hillcats travel to Oklahoma City to take on Oklahoma Christian at 5 p.m.
