ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Rogers State women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 road loss on Saturday afternoon to Ouachita Baptist.
The Hillcats got off to a slow start in the contest, allowing the Tigers to net the first goal of the game in the sixth minute of play. Barbra Pascale beat her defender and blasted the ball near post to give OBU the 1-0 lead.
With 23 minutes to play in the first stanza, the Tigers doubled their lead as Haley Hatcher slotted the ball across the box for Jess Allen who buried it back post. OBU continued to dominate the first frame, netting its third and final goal off a corner kick with 14 minutes to play in the half.
RSU made its way onto the scoreboard with four minutes to play in the opening half as junior Tara Garrett fired the ball into the net off a goalkeeper deflection. The Claremore, Okla. native's goal was the first goal of the season for the women's soccer program.
The Hillcats settled in after intermission, holding the Tigers scoreless. The Hillcats had several opportunities on the offensive end in the second frame but couldn't find the back of the net.
Freshman goalkeeper Teri Cocke was tagged with the loss, making six saves while allowing three goals. Sarah Broyles earned the win in the net with five saves on the afternoon.
Rogers State (0-3) will look to find the win column on September 17 as the Hillcats travel to John Brown for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
