SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark.- The Rogers State men's soccer team suffered a tough road loss on Tuesday evening as John Brown clawed its way to a 2-1 victory in double overtime.
The Hillcat took an early 1-0 lead in the opening stanza as Danko Kenjic netted his first goal of the season. Kenjic fired the ball just under the crossbar off a free kick in the 11th minute of the game to give RSU the advantage.
RSU clung to the one goal lead for the following 73 minutes of play before giving up the equalizer in the 84th minute of the game. Jordan Story slotted the ball back post to make it a 1-1 contest, eventually forcing overtime.
The Golden Eagles sealed the win in the second overtime as Martin Gonzalez fired the ball in the right corner to end the game. JBU took six shots on frame in the contest while the Hillcats managed just two.
Mitchell Penton suffered the loss in goal for RSU while Pablo Garcia tallied his fourth win of the season for the Golden Eagles.
Rogers State (1-2) returns to action on Sept. 20 as the Hillcats travel to Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla. at 6 p.m.
