Hillcats Stumble on Senior Night

CLAREMORE, Okla.- The Rogers State women's soccer team honored Alexander Coriell, a local man battling ALS, at halftime and paid tribute to the team's lone senior but  suffered a 6-0 defeat to Dallas Baptist on Saturday night at Soldier Field.

The RSU soccer program honored Coriell, who has been battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) for the last 21 months. With the help of the fans in attendance, RSU was able to raise more than $1,000 dollars to aid the Coriell family.

The Hillcats lone senior, Blair Thomas, was honored at the conclusion of the contest for her four years of service in Hillcat red and navy.

A first-half hat trick by Emilie MacDonald spurred the Patriots to victory Saturday night. The junior from Cedar Hill, Texas registered the game-winner in the second minute of play off a penalty kick. MacDonald added goals in the fifth and 21st minutes while McKenna Namken capped the scoring in the first frame with a goal from 18 yards out.  

The Patriots tacked on a pair of goals in the second stanza to complete the 6-0 victory.

Teri Cocke and Taylor Hallford split time in goal for the Hillcats, combining for three saves. DBU's Kerry Edwards registered the shutout with one save.

Rogers State (1-14, 1-5 HC) returns to action Monday as the Hillcats host Oklahoma Christian at Soldier Field. The game will kick off at noon and be streamed live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live
