LIBERTY, Mo. - The Rogers State men's soccer team's comeback bid fell short on Tuesday evening as William Jewell registered a 3-1 win over the Hillcats at Greene Stadium.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into halftime with a header off a corner kick from Ethan Delaney in the 32
nd minute.
The Hillcats knotted the score just after halftime as
Dylan Beaird tallied his second goal of the season off an assist from
Danko Kenjic. Nine minutes later the Cardinals regained the lead as Aaron Froehlich scored his fifth goal of the season. Delaney gave WJC some insurance in the 89
th minute with his second goal of the game and season.
Cody Gammill suffered the loss in goal for RSU, making three saves while allowing three goals.
Rogers State (3-4-0) returns to the friendly confines of Soldier Field on Saturday night as the Hillcats host St. Mary's in the Heartland Conference opener. The Hillcats will host Claremore Soccer Club Night with free schedule posters and an autograph session with the RSU players. Fans are encouraged to wear red to "Red Out" Soldier Field on Saturday.
