ODESSA, Texas –
Kevin Kwarteng and
Dylan Beaird scored in the second half as the Rogers State men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 road win at Texas-Permian Basin Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless opening half, Kwarteng put the Hillcats on the board five minutes into the second stanza for the eventual game winner. The freshman picked a perfect time for his first collegiate goal as he cleaned up a rebound from
Niall Masterson.
Beaird sealed the victory for RSU with his team-leading and Heartland Conference-best 10th goal of the season in the 81st minute. He worked a give-and-go near midfield with Kwarteng and used his speed to push toward goal where he sent a shot past UTPB keeper Justin Bryant. The goal moved the senior into third on the all-time, single-season goal scoring list.
Cody Gammill earned his second shutout of the season making four saves while Bryant took the loss for the Falcons with six saves.
The Hillcats (7-4-1 overall, 2-2 HC) continue a four-game road swing through Texas Thursday at St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
