Hillcats Ranked No. 8 in First NCAA Regional Poll

INDIANAPOLIS – The Rogers State women's soccer team was ranked in the NCAA's first regional rankings announced on Wednesday (Oct. 18). The Hillcats placed in the eighth spot in the NCAA Division II South Central Region.
 
Angelo State leads the rankings with fellow Lone Star Conference school Midwestern State in second. Colorado Mines of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference ranks third with Heartland Conference schools St. Edward's and Dallas Baptist University next at fourth and fifth, respectively. In the sixth spot is Texas A&M-Commerce, and Regis sits in seventh right before the Hillcats.  
 
The top six teams in the final NCAA Division II South Central Region rankings at the end of the season will make the NCAA Tournament.
 
RSU is currently 10-3-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the Heartland Conference. The Cats rank second in the league standings with 19 points only behind DBU at 23 points. The Cats are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak that includes a win 2-1 win over SEU and a 1-1 draw with DBU last week. The streak started with victories over Newman and Manhattan Christian.
 
The Hillcats are in action tonight at Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m. after the men's game at 5 p.m. Live stats and video will be available.
