BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The Rogers State softball team saw its eight-game winning streak snapped as the Hillcats fell, 11-2, to Washburn on Sunday (Feb. 19) in the final game of the 8-State Classic at Memorial Field.

The Ichabods totaled 10 runs in the third and fourth innings to erase a 2-0 deficit and pull away in the 11-2 game.

WU loaded up the bases and worked three straight run-scoring walks to take a 3-2 edge in the third inning. With the bases still loaded, a single to center added two more runs for a 5-2 score after three innings.

Five more runs were scored in the fourth inning. The runs started with a double down the line, and a single to center upped the margin to 7-2. After a groundout scored one, a double to the gap in left made it 10-2.

The Ichabods registered their final run with a double to left center in the fifth inning.

De'Leigh Emarthle made it back-to-back at-bats with a home run off the batting cages in right center at Memorial Park, hitting a two-run homer in the first inning for an early 2-0 RSU lead. The solo shot was the freshman's sixth in the first 11 games of the season. She had the game-winning walk-off home run against Rockhurst on Saturday afternoon in her previous at-bat.

Megan Rosewell got the loss in the circle, snapping a seven-game winning streak for her. It's her first loss since the opening game of the season against Ouachita Baptist on Feb. 3. She went 3.1 innings with four hits and two earned runs. The junior totaled seven walks.
Edie Fairchild and
Mayra Helguera combined to pitch the final 1.2 innings.

The Hillcats return to Claremore for four straight doubleheaders at the Diamond Sports Complex. The stretch starts with the 2017 home opener against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Friday (Feb. 24) at 1 p.m. Coverage will be available on the Hillcat Network with live streaming, audio and live stats provided.
