AUSTIN, Texas – The Rogers State baseball team was ranked in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) South Central Region poll, announced on Monday (Feb. 20) by the NCBWA.
RSU entered the week 1 poll at No. 10 after receiving votes in the preseason poll. The Cats are one of three Heartland Conference teams in the top 10.
The navy and red are currently 6-2 this season with wins over Northeastern, Bacone, Randall and Colorado Christian. RSU picked up an exciting 5-4 extra-inning win over in-state rival NSU last week.
Angelo State ranks first in the latest poll with seven of the nine first place votes. St. Edward's is second and garnered the other two first place votes. Texas A&M-Kingsville, West Texas A&M and Colorado Mesa round out the top five. Lubbock Christian, Cameron, Tarleton State and Colorado Mines rank in the sixth through ninth spots before the Hillcats.
The NCBWA South Central Region poll is determined by the votes of nine sports information directors, three from each of the Heartland Conference, Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Hillcats welcome the RiverHawks to the Diamond Sports Complex on Tuesday (Feb. 21) for a 1 p.m. nine-inning contest in Claremore. Coverage will be available on the Hillcat Network at
