CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State baseball team swept a three-game series with College of the Ozarks with a 3-0 win in the finale on Saturday (March 4) at the Diamond Sports Complex. With the win, RSU took all four games of a four-game home stretch.
Spencer Bivens was superb in 7.2 innings of work, totaling seven strikeouts with only four hits allowed. The junior from State College, Pa. moved to 4-0 on the season.
Justin Magstadt went the final 1.1 innings and earned the save, his second of the season.
The Hillcat did their damage on offense early with all three runs in the first three innings of the nine-inning game.
Matt Seubert started the game with a single, and he advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Sam Davison. With a runner in scoring position,
Bradley Degnan drove in Seubert with a single to the gap in right to put the Cats up, 1-0, in the first inning.
RSU added to the lead with two runs in the third inning for the 3-0 score. After a single by Davison to open the inning,
Chris Miguel doubled to left center to score Davison for a 2-0 advantage. The final run scored on a
Jason Marley bunt single to plate Miguel from third.
Marley went 3-for-4 hitting at the plate with one RBI. Miguel finished 2-for-3 with one RBI. From the leadoff spot, Seubert was 2-for-4 with one run scored. The Hillcats posted 11 hits in the game.
