OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. –The Rogers State men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Oklahoma Christian on Saturday (Sept. 23) at the Eagle Soccer Field.
Junior striker
Jake Simpson gave the Hillcats an early 1-0 advantage in the 24th minute of the contest with a shot from six yards into the lower left corner after a cross from senior midfielder
Declan Fitzpatrick. The goal was Simpson's second of the season.
The lead held for more than 50 minutes, but the host Eagles managed to even the match at 1-1 in the 77th minute. OC's Anthony Buchanan scored on a chip from eight yards after a free kick. The Eagles' Matheus Mantovani earned the assist on the goal.
For the game, the host Eagles outshot the Cats by an 18-12 margin. OC put eight shots in goal, including three in the second overtime. RSU registered five shots in target with one shot on goal in overtime.
Simpson put pressure on the Eagles with a game-high four shots, including three shots on goal.
Senior goalkeeper
Cody Gammill went the full 110 minutes in goal and posted seven saves while allowing the one goal.
