Hillcats Record Second-Straight Shutout In GAC Play With 2-0 Win Over Southern Nazarene

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. – The Rogers State Men's Soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over Southern Nazarene Monday night in Great American Conference play.

The Hillcats had to make up the game with the Crimson Storm, which was originally scheduled for last Thursday.

The first half was fairly even statistically with both teams recording six shots, putting three shots on goal each.

Jaxon Pitt, Jaime Ponce and Jake Simpson would all test the goalkeeper from within the penalty area, but were unable to find a breakthrough over the first 45 minutes.

At the other end of the pitch, Dillon Dean made three saves, including two big saves in the first seven minutes of the game.

However, the Hillcats wouldn't take long to find the opening goal in the second half, as Jaxon Pitt scored in his third-straight game to put the visitors ahead.

Pitt knocked home a close-range effort with an assist from Jordan Watson to put Rogers State ahead in the 49th minute. Pitt has now scored six goals in his last eight games.

The Hillcats would maintain the one goal advantage until the 79th minute when Pedro Garcia set up Cairo Allen, who scored his first goal of the season to double the RSU lead. The assist was Garcia's first point of the year.

Dean finished the game with six saves to record his third complete-game shutout of the season as he improved to 4-0-0 in goal.

With the win, the Hillcats sit in a tie for third in the GAC Standings, one point behind Harding for second. Rogers State is tied with Northeastern State and will face the RiverHawks later this week at Soldier Field.

The Hillcats will kickoff with Northeastern State at 7 p.m. on Friday after senior night festivities.
