CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State Softball completed a series sweep of Newman University on Saturday, outlasting rain and lightning delays to pick up a 2-0 shutout victory.
After nearly a three-hour delay to the start of the game,
Andrea Morales got things going in the circle only to have both teams called off the field for lightning just three pitches in. Following another 35-minute delay, the Hillcats returned to the field and Morales pitched lights out for her 17
th win and seventh shutout of the season.
Morales scattered two hits and two walks while striking out five in seven innings for the victory.
Offensively, the Hillcats were held to just six hits and four walks, but Rogers State picked up a run in the first and another in the third to gather all the offense needed for the victory.
Allie McFetridge picked up both RBIs and
Tailee Reding scored both of the runs. Reding reaches on a hit by pitch in the first and a walk in the third.
McFetridge would bring Reding home with a single to left center in the first and a single to left in the third.

Katelyn Gamble recorded the other hits for the Hillcats. Taylor, Gibson and
Rylee DeLozier also had walks.
The Hillcats will return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Texas to take on No. 14 Texas A&M-Commerce in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
