AUSTIN, Texas - The Rogers State softball team lost a close game on Friday afternoon against the St. Edward's Hilltoppers 3-0.
Sophomore pitcher
Andrea Morales was dealt the hard-luck loss after St. Edward's (4-9) scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the third. The runs would prove the difference as RSU (17-5) could not muster any runs in the loss.
St. Edward's junior pitcher Julisa Ortega held the Hillcats to three hits on the day while striking out eight. RSU's Morales struck out four along with allowing no earned runs in the complete game.
Only three Hillcats batters made contact off of the dominant Ortega. Sophomore leftfielder
Tailee Reding, rightfielder
Sierra Skaggs and centerfielder
Katelyn Gamble had one hit each as the entire outfield contributed to the effort.
The Hillcats take on the Hilltoppers again Saturday afternoon in Austin in a doubleheader that begins at 12 p.m.
