Morales Tosses 10th Shutout As Hillcats Defeat Missouri Southern State 1-0

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Rogers State Softball team closed out the non-conference portion of the 2019 regular season schedule on Wednesday with a shutout from Andrea Morlaes to defeat Missouri Southern State 1-0.
 
The sophomore pitcher tossed all seven innings, scattering just three hits while striking out 11 Lions batters. Morales earned her 23rd win of the season and tossed her 10th complete game shutout of the season.
 
It took six innings for Morales to get run support, but the Hillcats grabbed the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth off of a Jaylan Gibson single to left field that scored Tailee Reding from from second base.
 
The Hillcats were held to just five hits in the game. Mikayla Waggnor, Abigail Taylor and Sierra Skaggs joined Reding and Gibson in the hit column for the Hillcats. Taylor also had the only walk in the game for the RSU.
 
Rogers State will now set its sights on the final weekend of the regular season. The Hillcats host Oklahoma Christian in a three-game series on Friday and Saturday at the Diamond Sports Complex. First pitch for the single game on Friday is set for 6 p.m.
